(BNP COMMUNICATION) —  Demanding unconditional release of their party chairperson and former PM Begum Khaleda Zia, large numbers of Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP leaders and activists on Tuesday between 11am – 12pm staged a sit-in program in the capital, as part of its countrywide program.

Led by BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior leaders, and large numbers of party activists joined the hour-long sit-in program in front of the party’s central office at Nayapaltan in the city.

The party had to change venue thrice for police’s restrictions, claimed Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the party.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said they would continue their movement until the release of Khaleda Zia from jail. He said, Begum Zia is the leader of 17 crore Bangladeshis. They will fight to bring her out of  prison.

Our movement is to free Begum Zia, our movement is to free democracy, our movement is to free Bangladesh, the BNP secretary announced at the program.

BNP national standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said, we’ll set Begum Zia free through movement. We had to change the venue for this program thrice. This govt. will have to suffer as as consequence of its such actions.

BNP national standing committee member Dr.  Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said, government has become frightened seeing the  success of yesterday’s human chain program.

BNP national standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, we have been observing peaceful protest but the govt has obstructed our programs. Begum Zia was given jail in a false and baseless case.

BNP national standing committee member Mirza Abbas said, Begum Zia represents democracy.
