(BNP Communication) — Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday announced countrywide protest on Wednesday against price hike of essential items including rice, pulse and onion.

The program was also taken to protest the government’s ‘anti-people’ decision for increasing holding taxes in city corporations and municipalities and tariff on gas and power.

BNP senior joint secretary-general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news conference at the party central office announced that the protest programme would be staged at district headquarters and metropolitan cities including Dhaka city.

Rangpur city would remain out of the purview of the programme for the upcoming city corporation election.
