(BNP Communications) — Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Sunday alleged that the ruling Awami League was mounting pressure on the Chief Justice to change the verdict that scrapped 16th Amendment to the Constitution

Referring to newspaper reports published on Sunday, Mirza Alamgir said Awami League leaders went to the residence of Chief Justice SK Sinha for this purpose.

‘You (AL) are now creating pressure on the Chief Justice… to forcibly change his verdict …you are openly speaking it,’ he said while addressing briefly ahead of a prayer session at BNP central office.

The BNP secretary general said they do not know what the Appellate Division and the Chief Justice would do but people would never accept this ‘injustice’ of the Awami League.

He urged the Awami League to come to the straight path without creating pressure on the judiciary.

The BNP organised the prayer session to pray for the early recovery of its chairperson Khaleda Zia who underwent cataract surgery in her right eye in Moorfields Eye Hospital in London August 8.
