(BNP Communication) — “I hope, you (the citizens of Narayanganj) will attain a silent revolution in the NCC poll on December 22,” Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia said in a media statement Monday urging the people of Narayanganj to vote for her party candidate Shakhawat Hossain protesting the government’s misdeeds and mismanagement.

She also urged the people of Narayanganj, BNP leaders and activists and allies to exercise restraint in the face of any kind of provocation.

Narayanganj City Corporation election is very important to establish democracy and bring back peace in the country, she added.

The BNP chief also asked the leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance to work hard and play their active role to ensure victory of the party backed candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan.

Begum Zia asked the election commission, local administration, law enforcement agencies, the ruling party and the government to maintain fair, peaceful and free atmosphere in the entire Narayanganj area before, after and on the day (Dec. 22) of voting for Narayanganj City Corporation.

She noted that though till now no major incident of violence had taken place, but issuance of threats and obstructing electioneering of opposition candidates by the ruling party supporters have occurred.
