Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) national standing committee member Nazrul Islam on Tuesday said that the party is working to form a national alliance to fight the growing aggression of militancy across the country.
He rebutted the ruling party’s accusation that the BNP has connection with the militants adding the extremists are getting stronger as the government is busy blaming its opposition instead of catching them.
In this context Nazrul Islam said the BNP has long been talking against militancy. “It’s the BNP which had initially arrested the militants and punished them in the past.”
Accusing the government of applying undemocratic and repressive measures against the opposition parties, the BNP leader said about 250 false cases have been filed against the BNP’s party leaders and activists over a few days in the name of tackling militancy.
