Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia condemned and expressed deep shock at the death of 50 people and more than fifty wounded at a US nightclub late June 12 night.

With profound sadness she said, the attack at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, was not only inhumane, it was also cowardly. Extremism isn’t a problem for a specific geographical area, it is expanding globally very fast. The activities of these extremists have put the entire world in danger. The BNP chairperson underscored by stating, this is an attack on tolerance, social harmony and humanity.

She said, “Those who assume the brutality of beasts only they can perform such inhuman and cruel acts. It seems these terrorists think their limitless ruthlessness is theirs by rights. They do not respect the freedom of others. They are engrossed in the false bravura of their heinous acts of killing people. They are against the people’s cultural diversity, religious tolerance, the right to expression, democratic norms, constitution and rule of law. Life, love and humanity never touch their hearts. They do not hesitate to kill people senselessly. Peace and coexistence have no place in their hearts.

“Terrorists have no national boundaries. They want to destabilize the world by imposing their blind ideology on people while utilizing beastly behavior. The network of global terrorism is expanding to spread medieval darkness. These evil forces, devoid of humanity, want to eliminate all those who oppose their ideology. No one, including children, women and elderly people, can evade their venomous bite and destructive activities. All the achievements of people across the globe will gradually vanish in the dark alley of terrorism if people with good sense cannot unite with a strong determination to completely uproot international terrorism.

“I unequivocally express my outrage against the Orlando nightclub massacre. I demand punishment of the real culprits and their cohorts. We, the people of Bangladesh and all supporters of the BNP, are saddened and worried at these murders. I offer my deepest sympathy and condolences to the people of the United States. I also want to felicitate the US government for facing the challenge with patience and appropriate measures. I express my solidarity with the shocked people of the US and its government.”

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia added that she is praying for the eternal peace of the souls of those killed in the attack and conveyed her sincerest sympathy to the bereaved families.
